Major League Baseball CBA could take White House turn if teams can’t agree on deal

The new CBA coming together in Major League Baseball is going to raise many questions, and it could even end up in the hands of people far more powerful than Major League Baseball players.

According to the latest report, there's even a sense that the labor talks could end up going to the White House as an X-factor.

“While MLB owners will gather Tuesday and Wednesday in New York as labor talks have begun, several owners believe that if this becomes a long, drawn-out work stoppage that threatens games in 2027, the X-factor could be sitting in the White House,” Bob Nightengale of USA Today wrote.

As we currently see in college sports, some things going through the White House could play a benefit or a negative to what will happen. At the end of the day, one side is going to get hurt more than the other.

The players are arguing that there shouldn't be salary caps, while the ownership groups, at least for most teams, are saying that baseball needs to have something in place to ensure that small markets have an opportunity to win.

I hate that we could see Major League Baseball end up in the White House over this, since a salary cap isn't going to change much.

The New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, and teams like that are still going to be some of the best in the world year in and year out because that's where guys want to play. It also just gives owners a reason to continue to be cheap, when they certainly have enough money to at least build competent teams year in and year out.
