Luka Doncic trade broke Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and his wife as well

The Dallas Mavericks' surprising trade of Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers has been at the forefront of headlines ever since the night of February 1. Mavericks GM Nico Harrison didn't make things any better during his recent press conference debacles, so the tensions are high in Dallas, and the NBA Play-In Tournament loss certainly hasn't helped ease that pain.

Doncic was a fan favorite in Dallas, and trading him away just one year following an NBA Finals trip surely raised eyebrows.

Well, it's not just those in the NBA world, either. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who is a Mavericks fan, revealed his wife's heartbroken reaction once the trade came through.

"I'm a fan of the Mavericks, big fan of the Mavericks, and consequently a big fan of Luka," Jones said. "I know Luka was a personal friend and watched a lot of games with us."

"Now Gene (Jerry's wife), lives and dies with basketball and just cried when Luka left. I understand that...I've got a little bit of probably better understanding of how something like that can happen."

Of course, Jones has a lot of other things to worry about, especially with the pressure and eyeballs constantly on the Cowboys organization. But, for him and his wife, seeing Doncic traded out of Dallas did not sit well, and it might take some time to get rid of those feelings.
