Luis Robert Jr. throws clear shade at White Sox fans amid Mets praise

1 hour ago 2

The New York Mets made plenty of big trades this offseason, with the addition of Freddy Peralta being the most noteworthy.

Another big move was the addition of Luis Robert Jr. to the outfield, landing one of the better outfielders available for trade this past offseason. He's a great pickup and is looking forward to playing for the Mets and in front of their fans.

But, as Mike Puma of The New York Post shared, while praising the Mets, Robert took a clear shot at his former team, the Chicago White Sox, and more specifically, their fans, before the 2026 season.

Luis Robert Jr. takes shot at White Sox fans

"I am sure that Thursday, the stadium is going to be packed," Robert said. "Which is something that over the last few years in Chicago, I didn't get to experience that. It's going to be a new experience for me."

Robert is clearly taking a shot at the White Sox fans, as he praised the Mets fandom ahead of his debut in front of the home crowd in New York.

Comparing the Mets fandom's excitement and energy, and how packed the stadium is going to be on Opening Day, to his experience with the White Sox is a clear dig at the fans.

Robert, the 28-year-old former All-Star, has played with the White Sox for six years before leaving in a trade this offseason.

It's not been long since he's been away from Chicago, but he's already taken a clear shot at his former team, and more specifically, the fans.

This comment from Robert is meant to praise the Mets fandom, but it's been a clear shot at his former team's fanbase.

The White Sox have struggled during Robert's career, and the veteran outfielder has had up-and-down seasons for Chicago as well.

Unless Robert clears the air on this comment, it's hard for this comment to be seen as anything other than a dig at the White Sox and their fans.
