BTS welcomed the New Year with a live broadcast on Weverse from leader RM’s home shortly before midnight in South Korea on December 31, 2025. All seven members appeared together during the live, spending the final moments of the year chatting casually, joking among themselves and counting down to 2026 with fans.
At one point during the live, RM briefly opened YouTube on his television. The moment immediately drew reactions from the rest of the BTS members as well as fans online. j-hope and Jungkook expressing curiosity commented that they could see RM’s algorithm as he opened the app.

RM responded by saying it was not the right time to check his algorithm. SUGA then remarked that RM seemed to watch a lot of a particular kind of drama, to which RM replied that he liked those dramas.

BTS welcomes New Year with fans on Weverse, hints at March 20, 2026 album release
BTS members Jin, Suga, j-hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook went live on Weverse around 12 minutes before midnight in South Korea to ring in the New Year with fans. The broadcast ran for 12 minutes and 50 seconds and ended with all seven members celebrating together as the date changed to January 1, 2026.
During the live, the group interacted with fans, briefly reflected on the past year, and spoke about their hopes for the year ahead. They shared their wish to make their highly anticipated comeback safely and release a successful album.
"I hope we can make a safe comeback this year and have a successful album. Let's make BTS a huge hit." BTS shared.As midnight approached, the members counted down together. When the clock struck 12, they cheered, wishing fans a Happy New Year, and thanking them for their continued support. The group shared New Year greetings in both Korean and English.
BTS has since confirmed a comeback scheduled for March 20, 2026, as reported by South Korean news outlet SPOTV News on January 1, 2026. The release will be the group’s first full-length album in nearly 3 years and 9 months, following their anthology album Proof, released in June of 2022.
The comeback date was first hinted at through handwritten letters sent by the members to ARMY ahead of the New Year. Along with messages thanking them for their unwavering support, the letters included the handwritten date 2026.03.20.
In addition to the album, BTS is also expected to embark on a large-scale world tour. According to reports, the tour is expected to kick off in May of 2026 and continue through December, with approximately 65 shows across major cities worldwide.
