'Lost and found': Foster cat mom saves 10 kittens and sends them to their furever homes, then a year later, one confident kitty finds their way back home to her

Is it still a "foster fail" if the foster comes back to you?

In the foster world, I'd call that a foster kitty lottery win. As an expert of all things feline related, here at the I Can Has Headquarters, we pride ourselves on our ability to call out the pawrticularly special cat tales. Oftentimes, a cat will burrow their way into your heart—as all cats do—but it's not every day that we see a feline bailing on their foster placement so they can be returned to their foster mama instead.

  • Adorably, this feline in our next story, Jonathan, was raised for weeks on the bottle with a woman who was determined to keep him and his littermates alive without a kitty bio-mom. So after bonding with her and seeing her as his hooman mother replacement, Jonathan could hardly imagine moving in with some other family, and even after a year, it was impawssible for him not to think of his real mom. Keep scrolling to read the adorable story of a cat who found his way home after a year away from his foster pawrent, who quickly became his furever pawrent.

  • Last year I fostered 10 kittens and 2 cats. Found homes for everyone but this week one found his way back to me Lost and Found

  • We live in a small apartment and hadn't had plans to bring another kitty into the mix. Because it was this special boy in this situation we were very eager to welcome him home. I was his and his 3

  • brother's foster mom from 4 weeks to 4 months old until they were all old enough to be neutered and adopted. We're going on day 4 after 10 months apart and he's settling in well

  • GATE SCRATCHER

  • we're so happy he's back in our care and we're hoping to be his forever family-as long as our 2 older kitties accept him! So far so

  • good! He's gone from John to Jonathan, now Jonathan George but goes by George or JG if we're being lazy. Such a sweet, talkative and playful baby

  • Hi ! You won't believe this... Johnathon was surrendered to the County Shelter on 6/1! They called me for vet records because the person who adopted him from us lost them. I'm trying to get the shelter to turn Johnathon back over to us. Grr Oh noo!! If he comes back to you, I'd like to bring my partner to see him. Last year we couldn't keep any kitty's cause I was moving. However, I just talked to my partner and he said that we might be able to add another kitty to our home, or we can foster him

  • janoco ⚫ The CDS works in mysterious, yet unstoppable ways! Did he recognise you?

  • anon_liz OP. I think so! We got so many snuggles when we went to see him at the shelter. But the volunteers were saying that he was a very outgoing guy from the start so I think it's just his nature to be a sweetheart.

  • Maleficen.... He's so beautiful! Congratulations on your boy coming back to you. Years ago I absolutely fell in love with a kitten at the shelter | volunteered at. I used to spend a

  • ton of time with her and carry her around the place - she LOVED being carried and never had any interest in laps or sitting on them. There was an open house event

  • that my husband came to, and my plan was to introduce him and make him ALSO fall in love with this girl. Sadly some couple put in an adoption application for her like

  • two mins before my husband showed up. I was so sad. My husband DID fall head over heels for a sweetheart of a younger kitten who we ended up adopting, though, so I guess it all worked out.

  • Then a year or more later, I got a text from one of the shelter managers to let me know those people had just returned my girl because she was "bu ying" their other cats.

  • She came home with me a week later (the wait was because I had to be out of town for work) and moved in like she owned the place. She is definitely IN CHARGE

  • around here, but she and her brother and sister get on fabulously regardless. She STILL loves me to carry her around the place, and STILL has zero interest in sitting on any laps. It's been a lot of years at this point. I'm so happy my girl came back to me!

  • GenialSemiGinge⚫ Sometimes these things are just simply meant to be. What a good boy, how anyone could surrender that face is just bewildering to me! May you all have plenty of enjoyable memories in the future. Thanks for being a good human.
