"Looks like a LIV photoshoot" - Fans slam Rory McIlroy for 'hypocrisy' as he meets the Crown Prince of Dubai in the Masters jacket

Fans on social media have reacted to Rory McIlroy’s post meeting the Crown Prince of Dubai, Hamdan bin Mohammed, on social media. The Northern Irish golfer has shared a picture with the Prince on his X (formerly Twitter) account ahead of playing at the DP World Tour Championship.

He is preparing to tee off this week in Dubai, and on Monday shared a picture donning his Masters green jacket and penned a caption regarding playing in Dubai. He wrote:

"Honored to spend time with @HamdanMohammed today. Dubai has been a huge part of my career and the people and hospitality continue to make it one of my favorite places to play."

However, fans in the comment section took a jibe at Rory McIlroy.

"Looks like a LIV photoshoot," a fan said. "Hypocrite Greedy liar - no different that the sponsors of LIV TOUR," one more fan said. "This has to be AI. Rory hasn’t missed a chance to blast the LIV tour and players for taking “Blood Money” yet he’s getting his share behind closed doors…..," a fan wrote.

Rory McIlroy settles T3 in Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship

Before gearing up to play this week at the DP World Tour Championship, Rory McIlroy had played in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. The tournament was held from Nov. 6 to 9 at Yas Links Golf Club.

The 2025 Masters winner had an impressive time at the event and was even close to winning the event. However, he settled for third place.

Rory McIlroy started his campaign at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship with an opening round of 68. He then carded the next round of 68. He had an impressive run and played the final two rounds of 66 and 62.

McIlroy had an impressive time this season on the DP World Tour as well as on the PGA Tour. On the European Tour, he won the Amgen Irish Open, while on the PGA Tour, he started the campaign with a win at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

He then won the Players Championship and the Masters. Some of his other notable finishes are T2 at the Genesis Scottish Open, T7 at the Open, and T12 at the BMW Championship.

The 2025 DP World Tour Championship will start with its first round on Thursday, November 13, and will have its final on November 16. It will be held at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai.
