The Pittsburgh Steelers have put out a list of players who won't be participating in the preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday night.
According to ESPN's Brooke Pryor, the list contains both starters and a backup, and is highlighted by starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Here's the full list of healthy players who won't be suiting up:
- QB Aaron Rodgers
- RB Jaylen Warren
- WR DK Metcalf
- TE Jonnu Smith
- TE Pat Freiermuth
- G Isaac Seumalo
- DL Cam Heyward
- CB Joey Porter Jr.
- CB Darius Slay
- CB Jalen Ramsey
- S DeShon Elliott
- LB Patrick Queen
- EDGE T.J. Watt
- EDGE Nick Herbig
- K Chris Boswell
Again, this list does not include players who are dealing with injuries.
One of the most notable absences for Saturday's exhibition contest is rookie signal-caller Will Howard, who is dealing with a broken finger. Head coach Mike Tomlin didn't rule out Howard returning in time to play a preseason game, though.
While he won't be playing in preseason Week 1, Rodgers did say he is willing to play some preseason snaps if that's what Tomlin wants. If it does happen, we'd speculate Rodgers will play in preseason Week 2, but that remains to be seen.
The Steelers and Jaguars will kick off from EverBank Stadium on Saturday night at 7 p.m. ET.
