Not into Botox? No problem.
“Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Lisa Barlow counts thread lifts as her favorite facial cosmetic procedure.
“Don’t ever knock threads, they are the best thing that you can do for yourself,” Barlow, 50, told Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea hosts Evan Real and Danny Murphy on Tuesday.
“I don’t like filler. I don’t like to put Botox in my face,” she explained. “My mom is like, ‘Why would you put botulism by your brain?’ So limited botox, but threads are a way to get a natural boost and lift.”
Barlow responded to accusations that she has undergone a facelift, crediting the threads for subtle changes to her face and neck.
The reality star explained that she first underwent the controversial procedure about nine years ago and only consults a specific cosmetic practitioner.
“You can tight[en], lift [and] sculpt, and leave in the same day,” she said. “You can get a beautiful eyebrow lift, you can do so much, and I think it’s worth the money. It’s $3,500, you leave, and you’re like, ‘I look amazing.'”
Barlow clarified that there was “nothing wrong with getting a facelift too,” adding, “We’re all aging. I’m not anti [facelift] at all. I think it’s better than filling your face full of fillers.”
“But for me, threads, and you can tell in confessionals when I have threads and when I don’t,” she said.
The Bravo star shared that she’s also “comfortable” with her “naturally pretty features,” thanking Jesus, God and her parents for blessing her.
“You can do things to enhance that, and you shouldn’t be shamed for that. And whatever you choose to do is fine. But I like to be natural too,” Barlow continued.
“I feel comfortable both ways,” she said. “I don’t think there is anything wrong with aging naturally and being pretty as an older woman. I still think I’m young.”

The Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona define thread lifts as a procedure that “aim[s] to lift and tighten sagging skin, targeting the jowls, cheeks, brows, and neck” and stimulates “collagen production” to “improve skin texture and firmness.”
Many medical professionals, however, don’t recommend thread lifts due to the procedure’s unpredictable outcomes, effects only lasting up to 18 months, and “potential complications” and “long-term effects.”
“I recommend that patients steer clear of procedures that do not yet have a well-established safety profile and extensive long-term data,” says Dr. Adam Boettcher.
Similarly, Real Self warns that thread lifts can cause complications such as “extrusion (where a thread pokes out of the skin) and dimpling” by improper placement.
Thread migration and nerve damage are also possibilities.
The site also notes that threads are popular because they are non-invasive, with the procedure taking about an hour with minimal anesthesia.
Last year, the “Real Housewives of Miami” star Alexia Nepola got candid about her thread lift, immediately causing “swelling and bruising” after fans noticed discoloration on her face.
