With the Detroit Lions' 2024 campaign officially in the books after an ugly defeat at the hands of the Washington Commanders in the divisional round, it's time to begin looking ahead to the 2025 offseason.
Luckily for the Lions, they won't have a lot of holes to fill. General manager Brad Holmes has done a fantastic job building this roster and only needs to fine tune it. As tough as that loss was on Saturday night, the future is still bright in Detroit.
After navigating free agency, the Lions will turn their attention to the 2025 NFL Draft, where they hold the No. 28 overall pick.
From there, the Lions don't have picks in either the third or fifth rounds thanks to their trade up for Giovanni Manu and trade deadline acquisition of edge rusher Za'Darius Smith. Detroit has two picks in the seventh round.
With the season coming to a close, we've put together a four-round mock draft that has Detroit addressing needs on both sides of the ball. Let's take a look at what we came up with.
Lions mock draft 2025
Round 1, Pick 28: EDGE Shemar Stewart, Texas A&M
Not only do the Lions need more depth along the edge, they also need a long-term solution to go opposite Aidan Hutchinson, as Za'Darius Smith is 32 years old and will be a free agent after 2025.
At 6-foot-6, 285 pounds, Stewart is a massive human being but still has impressive athleticism. He only tallied 4.5 sacks over his collegiate career but the tools are all there for him to make a big impact at the next level and he offers inside/outside versatility.
Round 2, Pick 60: CB Darien Porter, Iowa State
The Lions have multiple question marks in their secondary. Carlton Davis is set to be a free agent, the jury is still out on Ennis Rakestraw Jr. and Amik Robertson has just one more year left on his current deal.
Porter has great size (6-foot-4, 200 pounds) and length but carries it well with plus speed. He also offers versatility with his ability to play on the boundary and as a big nickel defender.
Round 4, Pick 131: OG Miles Frazier, LSU
Kevin Zeitler is set to be a free agent and will be 35 years old, and Graham Glasgow is up there in age, also, with the veteran lineman set to turn 33. Christian Mahogany appears to be the long-term solution at one guard spot, but the Lions need another on the other side.
That's where Frazier comes into play. At 6-foot-5, 325 pounds, the LSU product is a large human being who has the right level of nasty in his game, which the Lions will love. A combination of Frazier and Mahogany will give Detroit two physical guards who love to get down and dirty (in a good way) in the trenches.
