The NFL's Week 9 action is bringing lots of storylines as the season heats up. With the playoffs getting closer, every game feels a little more important. Some teams are fighting to stay in the playoff picture, while others are doing everything they can to keep their winning records intact.
NFL analysts are sharing their biggest takeaways from Week 9, and there's plenty to unpack. Each game added another interesting piece to the bigger picture as the season continues to take shape.
The New York Giants continue to look better under head coach John Harbaugh, who has completely turned the franchise around
The New York Giants are looking even better under head coach John Harbaugh after Sunday's game, if that's even possible. Harbaugh has totally changed this franchise and is getting win after win, even with quarterback Jaxson Dart out.
The biggest takeaway here is that on Sunday, the Giants got their first win in Philadelphia since 2013. Yes, they snapped a 12-game road losing streak, and that's huge.
"J.J. McCarthy made some impressive third-down throws, but it was Jameis Winston who led the Giants' only touchdown drive, giving New York a third-quarter lead it would cling to through the end," Kevin Patra of the NFL's official website states.
He adds that McCarthy left the game in the third quarter with a hip injury but thankfully came back to help seal the deal on the win.
The offense's performance was mixed, but it got the job done. The Giants allowed six sacks, and the team's "offensive line had a rough day, opening few holes in the ground game," Patra adds.
"John Harbaugh won't care that the win wasn't pretty," he notes. "Notching another win to keep a significant NFC East lead is all that matters."
It's certainly the case that what means something is that the Giants just pulled off a historic win. Congrats, Harbaugh.
