Lions' D.J. Reed has 7-word message for Shedeur Sanders after draft slide finally ends

The wait is finally over for Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who went to the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft after the team traded up.

And that ends one of the most memorable draft slides in NFL history. Nobody thought Sanders would fall that far, as almost all projections had him going in the first round, and in the second, at the very latest.

Regardless, the Browns now have a crowded situation in their quarterbacks room. Along with Sanders, the Browns have fellow 2025 pick Dillon Gabriel, who was taken in the third round, Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, and Deshaun Watson, who is expected to miss the entire 2025 season.

In the wake of Sanders finally being drafted by the Browns, Lions cornerback D.J. Reed took to social media with a positive message for the embattled quarterback.

"God works in mysterious ways, congrats Shedeur," Reed wrote on X.

Interestingly enough, the Browns are one of the Lions' home opponents in 2025, so they could square off against Sanders during his rookie season.

However, it remains to be seen if Sanders will be able to work his way up to the top of the depth chart by the time that matchup happens. His stiffest competition is likely to come from Flacco, but Pickett will be right there, also.
