Lions' Al-Quadin Muhammad had powerful message for teammates after dominant Week 3 showing

Who said the Detroit Lions need another pass-rusher?!

Well, we have been all year long but so far it looks like the Lions have the guy they need in Al-Quadin Muhammad, who was instrumental in the team's 38-30 victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night.

Muhammad was thrust into a bigger role in Week 4 after Marcus Davenport was placed on injured reserve earlier in the day — and he answered the bell.

Muhammad tallied a team-high 2.5 sacks for a Lions team that took Lamar Jackson down seven times in total, something only the 2021 Pittsburgh Steelers have done.

The hype for Muhammad has slowly been building since the offseason and preseason, when he was one of the biggest standouts on defense for Detroit.

Muhammad, who was unemployed at this time last year, had a very powerful message for his teammates in his post-game speech in the locker room.

“You know what, I want to thank every player, every coach, everybody that’s in this organization. Because about a year ago I was home, I was on the couch," Muhammad said.

"So when you get a f****** opportunity, you make sure you take advantage of it. I want to also thank the guys in my room for helping me out this week. Without them, I wouldn’t have been able to do what I did," he concluded.

Prior to signing with the Lions' practice squad last October, Muhammad was cut loose by the Dallas Cowboys. He was eventually promoted to the Lions' active roster in November and finished the season with three sacks.

Through three games this season, Muhammad has 3.5 sacks, which is just 2.5 shy of his career-high of six.

Safe to say, he's well on pace to surpass that mark in 2025, and the Lions pass-rush will be in great shape if he can keep up this level of play and Davenport and Aidan Hutchinson can stay healthy.
