Lions’ Aidan Hutchinson gets key injury update ahead of 2025 NFL season

The Detroit Lions severely missed Aidan Hutchinson down the stretch last season.

They're looking forward to getting the star pass rusher back to start the 2025 NFL season after injury.

And the latest news is really, really positive.

Defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard sees Hutchinson's readiness in some of the on-field work he's already done this offseason.

“I went over there in individual and I said, ‘Look, you know how I know you’re back?’ He’s like, ‘How?’” Sheppard said to the Detroit Free Press. “I said, ‘Because you’re touching that ground when you run that hoop.’ And that’s this little thing he does like he’s some supernatural cat, which he is. But I’m like, ‘That’s how I know you’re back, Big Dog.’”

Lions fans have to love that last line: "That's how I know you're back, Big Dog."

Hutchinson broke his leg in his fifth game of last season.

Incredibly, his 7.5 sacks through five games remained the top mark on the Lions for the entire season.

Detroit won the top seed in the NFC even without Hutchinson but was eventually shocked by the Washington Commanders in the postseason.

This time around, the Lions will be hoping to keep the former No. 2 overall pick at peak health.

If Hutchinson, 24, can stay on the field, an already potent Lions squad will be even more dangerous. He could be the key to chasing down a Super Bowl for Detroit.
