Lewis Hamilton shared a downbeat reaction over the team radio after he was knocked out in the first part of qualifying for the Las Vegas Grand Prix on Friday. The Ferrari man claimed that he simply could not get his wet tires in the right window for a quick lap.
Hamilton suffered through yet another disappointing evening as a Ferrari driver during qualifying for the Las Vegas GP on Friday. The 40-year-old was knocked out in Q1 and will now start Saturday's race from last place.
The Ferrari SF-25 looked to perform well in dry conditions during practice around the streets of Vegas but has struggled to find grip in the wet conditions in qualifying. While Charles Leclerc made it out of Q1, Hamilton was knocked out after an underwhelming showing.
After the session ended, the 7x world champion came over the team radio to share his reaction, as he said:
"Couldn’t get the tyres to work."It has not been easy going for Lewis Hamilton in recent races, as the Briton is desperately looking to return back to form. After disappointing showings in the last two races in Mexico City and Sao Paulo, he is now going to start the Las Vegas GP from last place with the odds stacked against him.
As previously mentioned, based on Ferrari's pace during Thursday practice, the drivers would have been aiming for a top-3 finish come race day. The driver is still without a podium with Ferrari since joining the Italian team at the beginning of this season. As things stand after qualifying, it will take something out of the ordinary for him to correct this statistic during the race.
