“LeBron Sells”: Draymond Green Passionately Vouches for Adam Silver to Pre-Approve Lakers Star’s All-Star Spot

Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green wants to see LeBron James in this year's All-Star Game. Based on the first fan returns of the NBA All-Star Voting, it looks like fans need to work harder to get James into the starting lineup. The Lakers star is ninth, with 536,555 votes, which is just slightly more than Austin Reaves' 405,379 at the tenth spot.

It's unusual to see James' name generate fewer fan votes this year. Most of the time, he dominates the voting, no matter which conference he's in. This year, it's different for the four-time champion.

Green advocated for James to start at the All-Star Game to address this issue. He brought this solution to the public on the social media platform Threads. It's also one way for NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to see his argument.

The Warriors star also pointed out how having James in the event could generate views. The event has suffered a dwindling viewership over the past few seasons, and having one of the league's biggest stars could fix it.

"1. Don’t know if it’s his last season," Green started. "2. All-Star game is in LA. 3. USA vs World. Who wouldn’t want Bron on a team vs the world?(Paris olympics) 4. LeBron Sells and the All Star game is already struggling. Does it get more views Sans LeBron?"

James is a consistent presence in the All-Star festivities. He's been in the event for 21 straight seasons. Although the 2025-26 season hasn't been his best, the Lakers star still has an advantage over other stars, given his popularity. Through 15 games, the star forward has averaged 20.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists.

With James' status, Draymond Green knows that his being in the event could draw massive attention.

Draymond Green said that the NBA should make sure LeBron James is an All-Star

No one knows if this season will be LeBron James' last. This raised questions about whether he should play in the All-Star Game because he hasn't performed particularly well. According to Draymond Green, James should be part of the festivities regardless of how he has played.

“But what I know is they better make sure he is — like, it’s LeBron James, and he’s who he is to this league. He started the year off hurt, but I don’t know. Like, I don’t know the right answer other than: figure it out,” Green said. (Timestamp: 25:58)

The Warriors star cited the league's gesture in 2019 when they made Dirk Nowitzki and Dwyane Wade honorary All-Stars.

“You know, I played in the All-Star Game where the commish added Dirk and D-Wade as, like, legends of the game,” Draymond Green added. “And, like, it was their last one, and they are who they are. They should be. And it’s the same with Bron, like in the games in LA.”

The All-Star Voting isn't over and James can still get voted in by the fans.
