A24 has officially unveiled the new teaser trailer for Spike Lee's "Highest 2 Lowest," and it's pretty intense.
Starring Denzel Washington with other notable names like A$AP Rocky, "Highest 2 Lowest" reimagines the 1963 Japanese police procedural crime film "High and Low" from Akira Kurosawa, and sees Washington starring as a titan music mogul jammed up in a life-or-death moral dilemma when he is targeted with a ransom plot. Set in New York City, the teaser is set to the tune of James Brown’s hit single "The Big Payback" and is the fifth collaboration between Lee and Washington.
"Highest 2 Lowest" will make its premiere at this year's Cannes Film Festival this May. From there, it will hit theaters on August 22, and then it will be available for streaming on Apple TV+ beginning September 5. The May premiere date will also mark the 36th anniversary of the Cannes film debut of Lee’s classic film "Do the Right Thing," which is the first of Lee's films to ever film premiere there.

Lee is pretty excited about his new film release, posting on Instagram, "I know you have been waiting H—LA LONG...Here is [the] teaser trailer (finally) for [the] fifth return of [Denzel] and Lee — HIGHEST 2 LOWEST. And [that’s the] Washingtons/Lees’ family truth, Ruth. Ya dig? Sho nuff. Straight up."
