LeBron James gets injury timeline update from Lakers insider

LeBron James has yet to make his debut this season with the Los Angeles Lakers as he deals with sciatica.

When the injury was initially announced, it was reported that James would miss the first three to four weeks of the NBA season, with ESPN's Shams Charania expecting a mid-November return to the floor for the four-time MVP.

Seemingly, James is on the right track thanks to a new report from Lakers insider Dave McMenamin.

LeBron's recovery 'moving in the right direction'

In an appearance on ESPN's NBA Today, McMenamin provided an update on LeBron's eventual return.

"I'm told that we're still in the range of about three more weeks before he would be targeting a return sometime in mid-November," McMenamin told the NBA Today panel.

"I have been told by multiple sources over the last several days that his rehab and all of the process to get back to that return date is moving in the right direction, so there is good vibes around it."

With Los Angeles' other star, Luka Doncic, set to miss about a week with his own injury troubles, it's safe to say the Lakers are missing James right now.

But with championship aspirations, L.A. will want to make sure both of their franchise players are at 100% before bringing them back to the court.

In the meantime, the Lakers will continue to lean on Austin Reaves as their No. 1 scoring option, who just happened to drop a career-high 51 points against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night.
