LeBron James gets honest about why Jaylen Brown is a misunderstood NBA player

Over the past decade, Jaylen Brown has cemented himself as one of the most interesting players in the league. He has been an amazing player on the court, and he has been quite vocal off the court as well.

The latter has led to him struggling to build a consistent reputation, and he has received some unfair criticism over the years. Now that LeBron James is his teammate on the Philadelphia 76ers, the four-time Finals MVP has come to his defense.

LeBron James comes to 'misunderstood' Jaylen Brown's defense

Despite his excellence as a basketball player for the Boston Celtics, Brown did still get a lot of criticism over the years. Whether it was about him playing "second fiddle" to Jayson Tatum or him being the subject of bizarre criticism, Brown has always been a target for some people.

Since James has watched from a distance for the past decade, he has seen how it goes. However, now that he is teammates with Brown, he is making it known that he will be in the 2024 Finals MVP's corner.

Brown is not a conventional superstar because he always marches to the beat of his own drum. That likely annoys a lot of people, and it seems LeBron is not shying away from defending his teammate for it.

"I just think anytime someone kind of moves to their own beat, it makes people uncomfortable. He has his own voice. He moves to the sound of his own beat. It makes people uncomfortable because it’s not the what everyone’s accustomed to," James said to Steve Nash on their Mind the Game podcast.

"When it becomes misunderstood, then it becomes intimidating, and people look at it as like, you know, I don’t want to be around that because they feel intimidated by that. There’s an energy they don’t feel comfortable with."

This is a bit refreshing for people who have become familiar with Brown during his time with the Celtics. Most of his teammates were quiet on that front, but James has already made sure to remind everyone that he is on Brown's side.
