Lauren Sánchez Bezos was ready to stop, drop and pose ahead of the 2026 Met Gala.
Before her turn on the steps of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art for the “Costume Art”-themed gala May 4, Jeff Bezos’ wife found herself taking part in a very unique type of party prep.
“I went to visit the New York Fire Department and did their training,” Lauren told Vogue. “It’s probably the most unique Met prep ever.”
The 56-year-old took part in the NYFD’s full training routine from donning gear and crawling through a smoke-filled obstacle course to practicing life-saving techniques.
“It was bananas, but I loved it,” Lauren added. “I probably lost about two pounds doing it.”
And the journalist didn’t just take part for any reason, but as a chance to help give back to the fire department.
“Yesterday I had the chance to train with @fdny to benefit @learyfirefighters and @fdnyfoundation,” she wrote on Instagram May 2 alongside a video of the experience, “and let’s just say, they do not mess around.”
“It gave me a very small glimpse into the strength, discipline, and courage firefighters bring to their work,” Lauren continued. “In honor of International Firefighters’ Day on May 4th, thank you to firefighters everywhere for your service.”
As for Lauren’s Met Gala fashion, the night’s honorary co-chair channeled John Singer Sargent's 1883 painting Madame X in a midnight blue Schiaparelli by Daniel Roseberry gown.

In keeping with the “Fashion Is Art” dress code, Lauren's corseted look took styling notes from the painting with one of her bejeweled straps coming over the shoulder. She kept the rest of her look quite simple, finishing off her outfit with Lorraine Schwartz earrings. (See all the stars at the Met Gala here.)
And while she was solo on the Met steps, she was joined by husband and fellow honorary co-chair Jeff inside the Met. The Amazon founder kept it classic with his Met Gala fashion donning a black tuxedo and black bowtie.
