Lakers sign undrafted free agent from MAC powerhouse who shot 42% from 3

Peter Suder was the star of the show for college basketball's darling this past winter.

Miami (Ohio) went undefeated in the regular season, and Suder led the way. That has earned him a contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.

After the conclusion of the 2026 NBA Draft on Wednesday night, the Lakers reached agreement on a two-way contract with Suter, according to reporter Michael Scotto.

Suder is one of at least two undrafted players the Lakers quickly signed, along with AK Okereke out of Vanderbilt.

As far as being a potential NBA contributor, Suder is quite intriguing. In his final season at Miami, he was the MAC Player of the Year.

Suder put up 14.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game for the Redhawks. He shot 54.6% from the field and 42.1% from 3-point range.

He had begun his college career at Bellarmine for two seasons before coming to Miami for two years.

He raised almost all his numbers in almost all his college seasons from start to finish, including scoring, assists, steals, blocks and, with one mid-career blip, 3-point shooting.

Essentially, the 6-foot-5 Suder kept getting better.

There'll be questions about his overall size and athleticism, and his ability to keep up with the speed of the NBA after playing at a smaller-school level of Division I.

But if anyone from that incredible Miami team has an opportunity to make it, it's Suder. He's got the skillset, and the Lakers have given him a chance.
