Lakers' Luka Doncic downplays groin injury after Warriors loss

Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic had himself a night to start the 2025-26 NBA season.

The Slovenian sensation dropped a 43-point double-double, racking up 12 rebounds, nine assists, and three stocks.

But Doncic didn't come out of the game unharmed, as he spent time in the training room receiving treatment following the loss.

After the game, the All-NBA guard spoke to the media regarding his injury.

"It's probably nothing," Doncic said via ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

"Just felt it a little bit because my hip went [the opposite] way. Felt it a little bit, but it's probably nothing."

Despite the nonchalant attitude, surely the Lakers' medical staff will be keeping a close eye on the health of their star.

They're already down LeBron James, and can ill afford to lose another All-Star caliber player.

Doncic, who famously overhauled his diet and physique this past offseason, looked fabulous in the season opener.

Although he recorded three turnovers and -8 +/-, he was one of the lone bright spots for Los Angeles last night and a sole reason why the score stayed within 10 points.

The former Dallas Maverick was 13-14 on shots inside the paint, and 15-17 on two pointers, according to McMenamin.

His struggles came from three-point range, where he was only able to knock down two of 10 attempts from beyond the arc.

Doncic will have two days of rest before the Lakers take on their next opponent, the Minnesota Timberwolves.
