It didn't take the Golden State Warriors long to trust Will Richard.
He earned a start in the preseason, and although he didn't start opening night, he was in the rotation right away.
If he's not a name Warriors fans are familiar with, that's OK, we'll get to that.
It's just quite notable for a player like Richard to break into a veteran rotation like Golden State's right away. That should already tell you a lot about how good this kid can be.

Who is Will Richard?
Richard is a rookie wing for the Golden State Warriors.
He was a second-round pick, No. 56 overall in 2025. He played for the national champions Florida after beginning his college career at Belmont.
He's 6-foot-4 and 206 pounds, a sturdy guard who the Warriors clearly like.
When Richard made a start in the preseason, he put up 13 points, six rebounds and two assists. In 30 minutes of game time, Richard's Warriors were plus-10 when he was on the floor.
"I won't hesitate to put him out there (in the regular season)," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said postgame after Richard's preseason start. "I have that much confidence in him already."
Richard has some overlap with the size of guys like Brandin Podziemski, Jimmy Butler, Gary Payton II and Buddy Hield.
At the same time, Richard brings a youthful naivety and athleticism, along with a sturdy frame that can stand up well defensively.
He looks like he'll be out there plenty for the Warriors in the early going, which is a cool place for him to find himself.
