The Los Angeles Lakers have had some devastating duos over the course of their decorated history.
The 17-time NBA champions threw Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal at their opponents in the 1990s and the early 2000s. LeBron James and Anthony Davis steered the Lakers to their most recent championship in 2020. Old-school NBA fans might remember watching Elgin Baylor and Jerry West dominate opponents back in the 1960s.

But what Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves have been doing lately puts them in rarefied air.
In the Lakers' 100-92 win over the Houston Rockets on Monday, Reaves and Doncic became the first duo in franchise history where one or the other has posted 30 points, 5 rebounds or 5 assists in three straight games.
Doncic on Monday scored a game-high 36 points as the Lakers won their sixth game in a high. Reaves scored 15 and added five assists and four steals as Los Angeles strengthened their grip on the #3 seed in the Western Conference.
With James' future uncertain as his free agency looms, the Lakers will take comfort in knowing that they can build around Doncic and Reaves -- who is expected to sign a new long-term contract in the summer -- in the years ahead.
