LeBron James' status for the 2025-26 season is a hot topic.
Will the Los Angeles Lakers trade the all-time great? Will he ask for that? Would they buy him out and lose him for nothing?
It might finally be time to slow down the speculation.
The Athletic's Joe Vardon and Dan Woike broke new reporting on Wednesday morning, and it's this: "LeBron James hasn’t had buyout, trade discussions with Lakers, both sides expect that he will be with team for training camp."

While James could legitimately change his mind at some point, there's no reason to doubt that reporting from two of the NBA's top reporters that have covered James for a long time.
This means that, until further notice, it's safe to assume LeBron will be with the Lakers in the season ahead.
It's the last year of his deal as he plays out his player option, so it very well could be his last season in Los Angeles. But it's seeming more and more likely that he'll at least get this campaign in purple and gold before things change.
It'll be a chance for LeBron and Luka Doncic to play a full season together. Those two all-time greats together still give the Lakers an incredible season. It might be time to start wondering just how far they can go.
