The Lakers have been in the news cycle quite a bit recently, as the NBA trade deadline is this week.
However, one Laker made a headline today that few would have expected to see in the midst of all of the chaos that has happened this week.
Why was Jaxson Hayes suspended?
Usually, when a player gets suspended, it's because they were involved in a fight, cursed out an official or did something not so smart that warranted a suspension.
Well, Hayes did something you don't see often, which was getting issued a suspension for shoving a mascot.

This incident happened against the Wizards a few nights ago, when Hayes pushed the Wizards' mascot during player introductions.
The NBA announced that Hayes will serve his single-game suspension when the Lakers play the 76ers on Thursday.
I'm not sure of the last time I saw a suspension like this, but the NBA will never fail to surprise you.
