The South Bay Lakers have added some more size in a trade.
The Los Angeles Lakers' G League affiliate has been active with roster moves lately, and the latest involves center Malik Williams.
South Bay announced Friday that they acquired Williams from the College Park Skyhawks in exchange for a 2026 first-round pick and a 2027-first round pick (in the G League Draft).
Williams is a 6-foot-11, 250-pound center.
He has played in 17 G League games this season and averaged 16.0 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.2 blocks per game.
He played for the Sioux Falls Skyforce for the past two seasons before joining College Park.
Williams has played in seven NBA games, all with the Toronto Raptors in the 2023-24 season. He played 15.3 minutes per game in that short stint, averaging 2.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
Before his pro career, Williams had a five-year tenure at the University of Louisville. In his final season with the Cardinals, Williams put up 9.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.
Williams will take the G League spot of Kylor Kelley, who left the G League to sign a contract in the Philippines.
It's not necessarily a move that will impact the Lakers at the NBA level, but Williams' length is intriguing and will now be nearby in case L.A. decides they could use it.
