Jason Kidd hint scary Dallas Mavericks lineup with Cooper Flagg in the mix

The Dallas Mavericks lucked out, landing the No.1 overall pick, giving them a chance  to select Duke phenom Cooper Flagg, a player widely regarded as a generational talent.

The top-pick player is seen as a significant turning point for a franchise that endured a turbulent couple of months following an NBA Finals run just a season ago.

Appearing on the DLLS Mavs podcast, head coach Jason Kidd shared his insight on how he envisions Flagg fitting into the Mavericks lineup, slotting Flagg at the shooting guard position, giving Mavs fans a glimpse of their future.

"I see a young man who is only 18 years old, who can do a lot of things. He won't be 19 until December, which is really surprising, Kidd said.

"I think that being able to play 2 through 4 in today's game, you might be able to sneak around the five if you want to label him a position player. But maybe there is still some growth. Only being 18, he can still grow here.

He added, "I think you play him at the two, with the ability to shoot the ball and put it on the floor. As I talked about, we can have a big group out there that can start."

The potential lineup,Kyrie Irving, Cooper Flagg, P.J. Washington, Anthony Davis, and Dereck Lively II, features a blend of length, athleticism, and defense that could make the Mavericks formidable next season.

Flagg showcased potential star power during his lone season as a Blue Devil. He averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 1.4 steals, flashing elite two-way play.

Things began to unravel in Dallas when they traded their franchise star, Luka Doncic, to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick.

The situation worsened when Irving missed the bulk of the season due to a torn ACL injury in his left knee. They were eventually eliminated by the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA Playoffs.

Now, with a fresh start in Dallas with Anthony Davis and Irving, who are expected to be back in the middle of the season and potentially take Cooper Flagg, the Mavs look to reestablish themselves as a powerhouse in the Western Conference.
