Lakers' $48 million forward, NBA Cup champion named 'dumbest' player in NBA

Every NBA player will always be entitled to their opinions, regardless of how others may feel about them.

The Phoenix Suns’ 30-year-old star guard, Dillon Brooks, went viral last Wednesday for his controversial take on the Los Angeles’ 27-year-old forward and NBA champion. When Brooks was asked who he believes the ‘dumbest’ player in the NBA is, the Oregon product didn’t hesitate to name the 4.4 points per game Lakers veteran as the most deserving of that label.

“I’m going to throw a shot,” Brooks said on the Ray Live YouTube channel. “I can’t even lie. This guy doesn’t even like me, to be honest with you, but who cares. Jarred Vanderbilt, on the Lakers. They call him Vando. Lefty, he’s like a rebounder, can’t shoot, defense. I just think he’s got way more potential; he’s not untapping.”

At first, it seemed as though Brooks’ was prepared to justify his reasoning in a different fashion. However, it’s clear that the former Memphis Grizzlies guard was simply stating that Vanderbilt is a high-upside forward with all the physical tools to be a more impactful contributor than he currently is.

Vanderbilt has yet to figure things out on the offensive end, shooting 29.0% from three for his career and not being an adequate playmaker to be considered a serviceable contributor on that end of the floor.

Perhaps, the Kentucky product will turn things around in the big leagues, but he may have to do so with a franchise not named the Lakers.
