LA wildfire death toll rises to 24: medical examiner

The death toll across the Palisades and Eaton Fires has jumped from 16 to 24 people, according to an update from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner on Sunday night.

The majority of the victims — 16 — were killed in the Eaton Fire, while eight were killed by the Palisades Fire.

Only two of the victims have been identified in the medical examiner’s update. At least eight of the fire victims have been corroborated by the public and other local departments so far.

According to the update, 16 of the victims were killed in Altadena, four in Malibu, one in Pacific Palisades, one in Palisades, one in Topanga, and one listed hospital death without a specified location.
