Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving is one of the most controversial players in the league for his off-court antics. He unfollowed rapper Nicki Minaj on X on Monday, according to “NBA Alerts”, an account on X dedicated to reporting what NBA players, coaches, general managers and teams do on the social media platform.

Irving allegedly unfollowed her after she made shocking statements about U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance at a Turning Point event.

The rapper was a guest at Turning Point USA's AmericaFest on Sunday. She expressed her support for President Trump despite being a vocal critic of the US president when he won his first term on the grounds of anti-immigration policies.

"I have the utmost respect and admiration for our president," Minaj told Kirk at the event. "I don't even know if he knows this, but he has given so many people hope that there's a chance to beat the bad guys and to win and to do it with your head held high and your integrity intact."

Minaj also praised Vice President Vance. She called him a “role model” for young men. However, she sparked a brief controversy onstage when she accidentally referred to Vance as an “assassin.”
