This New York Knicks couple went above and beyond to celebrate the team's NBA championship win by naming their newborn son after the historic event.

When the Knicks clinched the title, Yvonne Gonzalez-Bradford was seven months pregnant, and she and her husband Vance Bradford already had names picked out for their bundle of joy. The couple decided on Lady Victoria if the baby was a girl, and Prestige Wisdom if the baby was a boy.

The city came alive after the Knicks won over the San Antonio Spurs in five games of the seven-game series, where there was nowhere in New York you couldn't hear ecstatic fans cheering, "Knicks in 5!"

Vance told Today.com that it sparked an idea to potentially change the name of their son as he asked his wife, “What if we give our son a name for a champion? What about Knickson?’”

Yvonne was on board, and Vance revealed that the name would be special not only to honor the Knicks winning the championship but because his family has been die-hard fans for years.

Two days later, Yvonne suggested Fyve as a middle name to reference the number of games that the Knicks won to bring home the title.

“You know how when something happens so well in your favor, you don’t want to jinx it?” Vance says, recounting how excited he was to hear his wife's suggestion. “I was just like, ‘Yep! Absolutely. That’s it!’”

Vance added another layer to his son's name sharing, “The Roman numeral for five is ‘V,’ like my name, so he’s named after me in a way. Five is also an indivisible number. So he’s our indivisible champion. You can hear him cooing in the background right now.”

Knickson Fyve was born on August 8, 2026, which is also significant to his mother, as he was welcomed into the world on Yvonne's birthday.

The couple has already been asked what will happen if Knickson decides to be a fan of another NBA team in the future.

“If he turns out to be a Celtics fan or a Sixers fan, again he’s still Knickson Bradford, who is in the boardroom,” Vance humorously says. "We wanted to have a very strong and firm name that would lead to a cool life. Knickson Fyve is definitely our motto. Knickson Fyve forever!”

The Knicks just finished their first regular-season game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Oct. 20. Before tip-off, the banner was raised to showcase their championship win as well as be awarded with their rings.

Unfortunately for the reigning NBA champions, they lost their home opener 100-106, but there is still more than enough time to get right back in rhythm.

The next game for the Knicks will be against the Boston Celtics on Friday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. ET.
