Report card from the Knicks’ 105-95 win over the Spurs in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night in San Antonio:
Jalen Brunson
Started as a really rough shooting Game 1 for the point guard, who was 7 for 22 before the final 7 ½ minutes. Then Jalen Brunson did Jalen Brunson things. He took over down the stretch, hunting Julian Champagnie, weaving in and around the paint with outrageous footwork and reiterating his nickname — Captain Clutch.
Grade: A+
Karl-Anthony Towns
Proved more than capable in the middle while scoring 18 points with 12 rebounds (including four offensive). KAT certainly didn’t defend Victor Wembanyama all the time, but he contributed to an off shooting night from the All-Star. Wemby went just 6-for-21 from the field with six turnovers.
