The New York Knicks are looking to make a splash this summer, and their top target might have just entered the market.

Over the past few weeks, the Knicks’ coaching search has been the topic of discussion for most of that period. Yet, the team still has some holes to fill on the roster, and the Knicks’ limited flexibility could pose a problem.

However, it appears that the Knicks could be catching a break given their situation. Not only is playing in New York a draw to players, but also players could be able to contribute on a championship-caliber team.

With how wide open the East is set to be next season, any minor moves could be enough to get the Knicks over the top. While the team has reported interest in Russell Westbrook, another veteran guard could be their big move of the summer.

On Monday, the Utah Jazz agreed to a buyout with Jordan Clarkson, making him an unrestricted free agent. While the Jazz failed to get any return for Clarkson, his value around the league should still be there.

Considering Clarkson has been making money on a bad team in Utah for the past few years, it wouldn’t be shocking for him to join a contender at a discount at this stage of his career. Jazz reporter Sarah Todd linked Clarkson to the Knicks following his buyout.

While the Knicks don’t have much to offer in terms of money, Clarkson could be a key piece of the puzzle for the Knicks as a spark plug off the bench. After averaging 16.2 points per game last season, it’s clear that Clarkson still has plenty left to give to a team.
