New York Knicks superstar Jalen Brunson is a game away from leading his time to the conference finals.
But he also recognizes that basketball is bigger than just the playoff bracket. And earlier this week, the injury to Celtics great Jayson Tatum reminded everyone of that.
Brunson was asked about Tatum on Wednesday, and he summed up his feelings like this:
"The league needs Jayson Tatum."
Tatum will likely miss the entire next calendar year after tearing his Achilles in the Celtics' Game 4 loss to the Knicks.
Outpouring of support came to Tatum from around the NBA.

He's a 27-year old superstar and NBA champion, a humble but brilliant leader of one of the league's most well-known franchises. And up until this injury, Tatum had also been incredibly durable.
Now, his future is in doubt, as is the future of Boston's entire roster.
There are many questions still to be answered, but Brunson summed everyone's feelings on the matter up quite nicely.
The NBA is the league it is because of its players, and Tatum is one of the best.
