Knicks insider gives update on Guerschon Yabusele

The New York Knicks announced earlier today that Miles McBride and Mitchell Robinson have both rejoined the team ahead of their upcoming matchup against the Chicago Bulls on Friday, October 31st. Both players had been listed on the injury report but appear close to returning to full strength as the Knicks prepare for a tough Eastern Conference showdown.

That’s not all — Knicks insider Stefan Bondy reported on X (formerly Twitter) that Guerschon Yabusele was an active participant in team practice, hinting that his return could also come as soon as Friday. Yabusele appeared in the Knicks’ first three games of the season before a knee injury sidelined him prior to their matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Yabusele currently serves as New York’s backup center behind Karl-Anthony Towns, which forced head coach Mike Brown to rely on smaller second-unit lineups in his absence. The 29-year-old has had a slow start to the season, averaging 1.7 points and 4.0 rebounds on 20% shooting in 13.7 minutes per game, while hitting just one of his last seven three-point attempts.

Some fans have pointed to Yabusele’s 265-pound frame and limited lateral quickness as contributing factors to his early struggles. While his defensive impact has been serviceable, the Knicks will need him to provide more offensively to balance the second unit.

New York’s bench production has been a major concern — averaging just 22.5 points per game, which ranks 29th in the league. The potential return of McBride and Robinson could help stabilize that group and provide the spark the Knicks have been missing. If Yabusele can follow suit, the team’s depth may finally start to round into form.
