Knicks have never seen OG Anunoby quite like this

OG Anunoby is a man of few words. 

He likes to let his play do the talking.

This postseason, it has been quite loud. 

The Knicks’ most consistent performer in the first round, Anunoby continued his masterful play Monday night.

In Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, Anunoby was active, efficient and at his best, in the Knicks’137-98 rout of the 76ers at the Garden. 

Anunoby took eight shots and made seven of them.

He sank both of his 3-point attempts.

He scored 18 points and was plus-22 in 30 minutes.

He just isn’t missing lately.

In the last three games, Anunoby is 23-of-30 and 8-of-11 from distance. 

This is a wing, not a center dunking everything.

This came after an opening-round in which he averaged 21.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.8 steals and shot an incredible 56.7 percent from 3-point range on five attempts.

When the Knicks were struggling early in the series against the Hawks, he was a two-way constant. 

“He’s one of the best two-way players in the NBA,” Karl-Anthony Towns said during the Atlanta series. “This series has been great for him to show the world on a big stage something that we always thought he was. When you have someone like that who is that good offensively and even better defensively weirdly enough, it’s special. I believe he’s going to be first team all defense, and he deserves it.”

When Anunoby meets the media, he tends to be short with his answers.

After Game 1 against the Hawks, Anunoby said he had to get better in “everything.” 

Anunoby wasn’t specific.

He has so far been true to his word — he has improved across the board.
