Knicks free agent prediction would bring in 13.5 points and 15.5 rebounds young center

The New York Knicks could still be in the mix for a player or two over the next few weeks to months, something the organization will have to figure out. As of right now, it seems like the Knicks could improve at the center position, mainly as a backup. 

We all know that Karl-Anthony Towns is going to start, and after signing Andre Drummond, the idea here would just be to add a third center and hope said player can give them minutes when needed. 

The Knicks probably don't want to make a major splash in any sort of way at the moment due to trying to stay under the second apron, so a younger player who hasn't proven a whole lot is a more realistic option.

One name recently floated as a potential option would bring a lot of excitement, however, as he's put up some monster numbers in the G League. That player is none other than former Kentucky star Oscar Tshiebwe.

“If the Knicks want to go outside the box at the third center spot, taking a flier on Oscar Tshiebwe on a two-way deal might not be a bad idea,” Jovan Alford wrote. “…In 12 regular-season G League games with the Salt Lake City Stars, Tshiebwe recorded 13.5 points and 15.5 rebounds in 29 minutes per game. Then with the Jazz, he averaged 7.8 points and 6.6 rebounds in 16.6 minutes per game (27 games/six starts).”

Tshiebwe isn't a great player, or at least at the NBA level. However, his numbers in the G League have been very impressive, and if he can develop into the player that everybody thought he could be at Kentucky, I think this is worth a flyer for the Knicks. 

Right now, the Knicks just have to make the smart, right moves, which they've done in the past. I expect that to be the case once again.
