Karl-Anthony Towns is starting to show up in trade rumors.

But no, the New York Knicks star hasn't been traded yet.

The concept started making the rounds on Friday thanks to a fake post on social media also involving the Memphis Grizzlies.

Did KAT get traded?

No, KAT hasn't been traded yet.

A post impersonating Knicks reporter Ian Begley from a fake account made it seem that way.

This was the fake post, with a serious blockbuster deal:

Breaking News: League sources say the New York Knicks are trading Karl-Anthony Towns, Guerschon Yabusele, Pacôme Dadiet and a 2026 Wizards first-round pick (protected) to Memphis in exchange for Jaren Jackson Jr., Brandon Clarke and John Konchar league sources tell @SNYtv

— Ian Begley (@SiteNYK) January 23, 2026

It took that post about five hours to have more than one million views on X.

The aim of gaining engagement for fake news certainly worked well for the poster.

The Knicks would probably enjoy getting a guy like Jaren Jackson Jr. in the right kind of deal, but it's not clear trading Towns for a similar player type is what New York would go for.

Either way, this isn't a real trade, so don't worry about such a move yet.
