Knicks fans take to NYC streets to celebrate Game 1 win over Pistons: 'F— Detroit!'

22 hours ago 3

If the Knicks' resurgence over the last few seasons has made anything clear, it's that New York fans really, really love to win.

Knicks fans celebrated wildly after winning one playoff game against the Hawks in 2021, and fans came out in droves when New York came within a win of the Eastern Conference Finals in 2024.

If you thought consistently winning would cause the energy to die down, think again. Knicks fans took to the streets after Saturday's Game 1 win over the Pistons, and it was captured on video.

Here's a look at how Knicks fans celebrated a come-from-behind victory over Detroit.

Knicks fans react to Game 1 win

Knicks fans rallied outside Madison Square Garden after a Game 1 win over the Pistons, which included a 21-0 run in the fourth quarter to storm back from a deficit and take complete control down the stretch.

One clip showed fans singing "Mo Bamba" before loudly booing when a police officer tries to break up the mob of people.

Some fans chanted, "F— Detroit," outside the arena. Hawks G Trae Young found himself on the receiving end of similar chants in 2021 (and beyond), but Cade Cunningham evidently didn't play well enough in Game 1 to earn his own. Instead, the entire city of Detroit took the brunt of it.

A few Knicks fans even caught up to Pistons G Malik Beasley, who didn't seem to be too bothered by the noise.

“WE DON’T FU** WITH YOU HERE! HOP ON THAT GREYHOUND! PICK UP THAT HAT!”

The Knicks still need three more wins to advance, and they showed some vulnerabilities in Game 1 against the Pistons. After winning the first two games of their series against the Pacers last year and going on to lose, Knicks players know plenty of work is still ahead.

As for the fans, they will unapologetically celebrate each and every win they get.
