Knicks draft picks 2025: Who did New York pick? Full list of NBA Draft selections

5 hours ago 2

The New York Knicks will have an opportunity to make a key addition late in the NBA Draft.

Coming off the heels of the team’s most successful season since 2000, the Knicks won’t be making many selections in this year’s draft, carrying just a single second-round pick in the entire draft this time around. Their 2025 first-rounder was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in the Mikal Bridges trade that saw the Knicks depart with five first-round picks (2025, top-4 protected 2025, 2027, 2029, 2031).

Since 2020, the only player that the Knicks have drafted in the first-round that wasn’t instantly traded away was Pacôme Dadiet in 2024, and they haven’t kept a player drafted in the second-round since Trevor Keels in 2022.

Here is the current outlook for the Knicks’ draft situation:

• Round 2, No. 50

It should be stated that this pick originally belonged to the Memphis Grizzlies, and is not the Knicks’ own pick. This is because the team was forced to forfeit their second-round pick as a punishment for tampering with Jalen Brunson when he was a free agent in 2022. Considering what Brunson has become, it’s safe to assume the Knicks are perfectly fine with taking that penalty.

The Knicks have gotten some solid production from second-round picks in recent years. This past season, Ariel Hukporti and Tyler Kolek showed flashes of promise when given the chance. Miles McBride — a second-round pick in 2021 — is currently one of the Knicks’ most impactful players, showing that the team has the ability to strike gold late in the draft.

New York will enter draft night without a head coach, or any of their own draft picks. Yet, they’ll still have a chance to snag a key depth piece for a team that is trying to maximize a championship window.

Mohamed Diawara

The Knicks made just one selection in this year’s draft. Originally holding pick No. 50, New York traded its pick (Kobe Sanders) to the Los Angeles Clippers for pick No. 51, where they took Diawara.

Diawara, a 6’8 forward, is a defensive-minded athletic forward who spent last year in France’s LNB Élite league, where he averaged 5.8 points, and 3.1 rebounds per game on 38 percent shooting from the field.

Per SNY’s Ian Begley, Diawara will play in Summer League for the Knicks. Diawara is close with the Knicks’ first round selection from last year, Pacome Dadiet.
