Knicks All-Star big man reveals details of Mike Brown meeting

New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns was very familiar with Tom Thibodeau, having played for him in both Minnesota, and New York. Now with Mike Brown, Towns is just starting to get to know him, and recently shared details of his first impression of Brown.

Brown was hired last month to replace Thibodeau, he was most recently the head coach of the Sacramento Kings, and had previously coached the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers.

On the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, Towns described the feeling he was left with following a two-hour meeting with Brown.

“This was the first time we actually met, got a chance to speak, talk about the team, and get to know each other,” Towns said. “We have a chance to win a championship and that’s only going to happen if everyone’s connected to each other, and our goals.”

“Because at the end of the day, people will talk,” Towns added. “As long as everyone in that locker room believes in each other and this goal we have, ain’t none of that sh*t matters on the outside.”

Towns is coming off of one of the best seasons of his career in his first with the Knicks. He averaged 24.4 points, 12.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game as he was named an All-Star for the fifth time, and All-NBA for the third time.

Now with a new head coach, Towns will be looking to hit another level next season as the Knicks look to capitalize on their championship window.
