KL Rahul reveals favorite moment with Suniel Shetty amid AUS vs IND 2025 series

India batter KL Rahul has opened up about his favorite moment with his father-in-law, Bollywood veteran Suniel Shetty. The cricketer and the actor appeared together in an interview with CNN-News18, where they were asked to share their most cherished memories with each other.

Rahul said his wedding to Athiya Shetty, Suniel’s daughter, remains his most special moment with the actor. The couple got married on January 23, 2023, in a private ceremony held at Suniel Shetty’s farmhouse in Khandala. He said:

“For me, my favorite moment with him (Shetty) would have been, I think, our wedding. Our wedding day was very, very special. And I mean, most days are like I said, we’re always working, and at the end of the day, we spend time together. That’s one thing that sticks out to me, and seeing him as a grandfather.”

On the cricketing front, the Karnataka batter is not part of India’s ongoing five-match T20I series against Australia, which the Men in Blue lead 2-1 with one game remaining.

The 33-year-old is currently featuring in India A’s unofficial second Test against South Africa A in Bengaluru, where he scored 19 runs in the first innings as the hosts posted 255, with Dhruv Jurel remaining unbeaten on 132 off 175 balls.

"From a mister to a father" - Suniel Shetty on KL Rahul becoming dad to a daughter

In the same interaction, Suniel Shetty spoke about KL Rahul’s transformation, describing how he has gone from a boy to a man after becoming a father to a daughter earlier this year. He said:

“I think I was just going to say that, that transformation, that expression when he went from a boy to a man, from a mister to a father. I think that feeling and that expression that I see on his face every morning or evening, or whenever he’s with Evaarah.”
