Travis Hunter lived up to the hype during pre-draft workouts, impressing coaches and franchises across the board with his talent and poise. The former Colorado two-way player earned high marks not only for his on-field performance but also during team interviews. However, the same can’t be said for his quarterback throughout his football career — Shedeur Sanders — who reportedly struggled during the interview process.
“At some of those [combine] meetings with certain teams that maybe Shedeur Sanders didn’t really want to go to... I was told that he more or less sandbagged in those interviews... I don’t know if he didn’t take them seriously, what it was, but he did not give it his all in some of those interviews,” Jonathan Jones said.
Despite the shaky interview reports, Sanders ultimately found a landing spot with the Cleveland Browns. Interestingly, the Browns had initially passed on him in the third round, opting instead for Dillon Gabriel. Nonetheless, Sanders is expected to see playing time and could start at some point during the season.
“My guess? Flacco is out by the end of September, Pickett gets fried by the Vikings and Steelers in October, and the struggling Browns go to Sanders for a mid-October home matchup with Miami,” Brad Gagnon wrote. “Even that should be a roller-coaster ride, and I’ll bet a team that is long out of it goes out of its way to get a look at Gabriel before the campaign comes to an end.”
Sanders has a chance to make an impact from the start — not just in October, as Gagnon suggests. Head coach Kevin Stefanski has already been impressed by what he’s seen from the rookie quarterback.
“He's in there early, he's getting his work done, he's working really, really hard. I like everything there is about Shedeur,” Stefanski said.

Stefanski’s early praise is an encouraging sign. He clearly recognizes Sanders’ potential and the kind of player he could develop into. While Sanders may not have been a top draft pick, he has the tools and mindset to become a franchise quarterback for Cleveland.
