CM Punk has been relishing his new beginning with the Stamford-based promotion. He has been booked strongly and is the current World Heavyweight Champion on Monday Night RAW.
However, he was subjected to criticism by Kevin Nash on his Kliq THIS podcast. Nash said as a Champion, Punk wrestling in a T-shirt wasn't ideal. He also said his punches also looked slow and added that he was done.
Now, Stevie Richards, a 21-time WWE Hardcore champion, has responded to whether Nash is right about Punk being washed up. Speaking on The Stevie Richards Show, the veteran defended Punk's wrestling style.
He mentioned that while the Voice of the Voiceless may have slowed down in the ring, he is trying to tell a story.
"His punches might have been a little bit, I don't know, weak is the word. But at the same time, what he's doing is he's slowing down and trying to tell a story in a way," he said.Richards said if someone like Carmelo Hayes, known for his acrobatic style, changes his game, then he would have understood him slowing down. But for Punk, he still has a lot in his arsenal.
"Punk’s still got the five moves of doom still. And he still really, for most times, executes those very, very well," he added.Notably, Nash and Punk feuded in 2011 but never got to wrestle each other.
CM Punk responded to Kevin Nash's criticism in his own way
While CM Punk didn't comment on Kevin Nash's criticism of him wearing a T-shirt during a match, he did respond to it in his own unique way.
At a recent live event in Fort Myers, CM Punk competed against Bronson Reed for the World Heavyweight Championship. Before the match, he took off his T-shirt, only to reveal another T-shirt underneath.
Punk will now set his focus on next week's RAW, where he will defend his Title against Bron Breakker.
