Kevin Durant cracks lighthearted joke after fans hurl merch at him amid Rockets trade

Kevin Durant had quite the weekend.

In the worst way possible, the NBA power forward learned that the Phoenix Suns traded him to the Houston Rockets while he was on stage interviewing with Taylor Rooks at Fanatics Fest in New York City on Sunday. Cameras captured the moment when Durant learned his fate in the league, and he didn't have any time to process the news in private.

On the same day, dozens of fans bombarded him with merchandise, requesting autographs.

The NBA power forward was a good sport about the moment, which was captured on video and has now gone viral on social media.

Durant shared a short clip of the fan interaction on Instagram on Sunday afternoon, captioning the post, "Fans have no chill."

In the video, Durant could be seen sitting on a balcony above a group of fans gathered below him.

At first, a fan threw a shirt at the NBA star requesting a signature, which he immediately started signing. However, seconds later, several other fans hurled merch up to him at the same time, and he couldn't catch all of it. Durant looked shocked when a basketball hit him in the side of the face, and several other items, including a shoe and a jersey, were all hurled his way at the same time.

He was a good sport about it, though. He shook his head at the fans, but maintained a smile as he looked down at his fans, many of whom were kids, standing below him.

After learning that he was traded to Houston, Durant told Kay Adams he's "looking forward" to going to Houston. "Crazy, crazy last couple of weeks, but I'm glad it's over with," Durant said.
