Kendrick Perkins make bold prediction regarding Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves

Anthony Edwards remains one of the brightest young stars in the NBA.

The All-Star guard is coming off another electric postseason run, leading the Timberwolves to the Western Conference Finals, despite being bounced by the eventual NBA Champion Oklahoma City Thunder.

Along the way, Edwards only added to his growing legend by eliminating both LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.

As Edwards' star continues to rise, many wonder if it shines a little too brightly.

During an appearence  on the Road Trippin Podcast ,ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins believes that Edwards could force his way out of Minnesota if the team fails to reach the NBA Finals.

"If Anthony Edwards doesn't reach the NBA Finals, he's going to request a trade from Minnesota…$45M is not really at the top of the top, Bradley Beal is making $52M," stated Perkins, who had been critical of the Ant-Man's showing in the playoffs.

While there is no indication that Edwards is unhappy in Minnesota, the idea of him potentially forcing his way out of the team would be a devastating blow to a squad that has had championship aspirations over the past few seasons.

The Timberwolves have been knocking on he door the past two years, having reached the Western Conference Finals in back-to-back seasons, but failing to advance to the NBA Finals.

Edwards is currently on a five-year, $244 million rookie contract extension he signed in 2023. He currently has four seasons left on the deal. He is now the face of the franchise, a role he stepped into, one held by legends Kevin Garnett and Karl-Anthony Towns.

The T-wolves are undergoing massive changes under the new ownership group led by Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez.

Though there's no sign that Edwards wants out, it's clear that the clock is ticking, and if Minnesota hopes to keep their ascending superstar, they have to take the next step soon.
