Kaytron Allen sets Penn State's career rushing mark in win over Nebraska

Kaytron Allen ran for 160 yards and two touchdowns to become Penn State’s all-time rushing leader as the Nittany Lions cruised past Nebraska 37-10 on Saturday night. The victory also keep their bowl hopes alive weeks after the school fired James Franklin.

Allen, who posted 181 yards in last week’s win over Michigan State, continued his late-season surge. He climbed past Saquon Barkley on the career rushing list in the first half and surpassed Evan Royster’s long-standing mark of 3,932 yards with a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter. The senior now sits at 3,954 career yards.

“I’m still trying to wrap my head around it,” Allen said. “If I can be winning the whole season and not get the record, I’d rather do that. But I’m grateful for the opportunity.”

Penn State (5-6, 2-6 Big Ten) scored on five straight possessions while its defense delivered its sharpest outing of the year, bottling up the Cornhuskers and allowing just 10 points.

As time wound down, players held signs reading “Hire Terry Smith,” a show of support for the interim coach. Smith showed appreciation for Allen and fellow back Nicholas Singleton, who tied Saquon Barkley atop the program’s career touchdown list with 43.
