Kathy Griffin, 65, Shares How She “Accidentally Fell in Love” With a 23-Year-Old
Kathy Griffin is trying something new.
While the 65-year-old has donned her signature red locks—often accompanied by bangs—for decades, she recently shook up her look by debuting platinum blonde hair.
In the pictures shared March 16, Kathy showcased long, bleached blonde locks and bangs—with her brows still bearing their signature red coloring. The comedian smiled coyly at her camera, in one photo cheekily biting her pointer finger and in another her hands splayed around her face to highlight the frosty new look.
As for switching up her look and keeping fans on their toes, Kathy quipped in the caption, “And you guys thought you knew me…”
And while she didn’t reveal whether or not the lighter locks were the result of a wig or an actual hair transformation—one fan said they were “here for” the “wig expansion” in the comments—fans had a lot to say about the new look.
“KATHY IT LOOKS SO GOOD,” one user wrote, while another added, “I LOVE THISSSS.”
While others simply summed up their feelings with a series of fire emojis.
But for Kathy—who rang in her 65th birthday in November with an appearance on Sherri Shepherd’s show in nothing but a red bikini—such risk taking shouldn’t come as a total surprise. After all, she feels nothing but young at heart.

As she wrote on Instagram the day before the milestone birthday, “Tomorrow I turned 65. I can’t believe it. My problem is I still feel like I’m 25.”
And that youthfulness has followed Kathy into many facets of her life, not just her willingness to switch up her look.
In fact, at the end of 2025, the reality star revealed she’d gotten close to finding love with a much younger man in the wake of her 2023 divorce from Randy Bick.

“I accidentally fell in love with a 23-year-old,” Kathy told New York magazine’s The Cut in a piece published Dec. 31. “Because of his age, he didn’t have the usual sexism, misogyny, and biases that guys my age tend to have. He seemed to see me. I know that sounds really corny. Oh God, it sounds so lame! But I felt really comfortable with him, and I felt very content just hanging out.”
Though she said the pair both knew their connection “never could’ve lasted,” she nevertheless remains grateful for the brief flame.
“It was nice to know that my heart could still feel like that in my 60s,” she continued, “and it was nice to have the universe show me a guy that I really got a kick out of but also respected. I thought he was smart. I thought he could roll in different worlds. So even though there was a big age difference, I’m glad that we were able to capture it for a little while.”
