Kathy Griffin opened up about her own family dynamics while reflecting on the grisly deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner.
In a YouTube video titled “Remembering Rob Reiner | Also, a Condemnation of Gun Violence,” the comedian expressed how angry she was over the murders of the director and his wife allegedly at the hands of their son Nick Reiner.
“I’m going to open up to you about something now that I haven’t really talked about since my first book [“Official Book Club Selection: A Memoir According to Kathy Griffin“], and when I talked about it, the rest of my family was very, very upset with me,” she said, changing the subject.
The 65-year-old went on to explain that she is the youngest of five children and reminded people that her late parents, John and Maggie, made regular appearances on her reality show, “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.”
“Well, my eldest brother, Kenneth, who is now dead, thank God. He was a crack addict. He lived on the streets, was extremely violent, so probably had an undiagnosed mental illness that obviously did not go well with crack cocaine,” she claimed.
“I can just tell you it was heartbreaking watching my parents, John and Maggie, try to save him his whole life,” Griffin noted, seemingly drawing comparisons between her parents and the Reiners, who continuously tried to help Nick with his substance abuse and diagnosed schizophrenia.
She recalled being told that Kenneth’s problems began “in his teen years” and his first wife confessing to her when she was 10 that he used to allegedly “beat her so badly” and lock her out of their apartment in the freezing Chicago weather.
“And for years, I was in and out of separation from the rest of my family because I would never face or deal with my eldest brother, Kenneth, again with just laying into him,” she explained, revealing that Kenneth was also her godfather.
Griffin also alleged one of Kenneth’s girlfriends had told her he “was molesting one boy and one girl that she knew of.”
“Having your oldest brother be a pedophile is something that you don’t ever grow out, you don’t get over it. I wanted to kill him because all I could think about were all those children,” she alleged, dubbing him a “wife-beating pedophile.”
“So the expression that blood is thicker than water is not true in my case. I didn’t give a f–k that he was my older brother and I did not want to protect him, so for many years, other members of my family did not want to acknowledge that Kenneth was abusive even though he beat the crap out of his first wife.”

She even detailed calling the Los Angeles Police Department “repeatedly” and “once a week” to report her brother for allegedly “molesting two children,” adding, “I don’t know if any of my relatives know that to this day.”
Jumping back to Rob, Giffin said she didn’t “want to hear anything about how [the director] should have had security” because, similarly to the Reiners, she watched her parents “do everything” help Kenneth’s behavior.
Ahead of her confession, “The View” alum — who has been banned from the show twice — was reflecting on the death of Rob and his wife, Michele.
On Dec. 14, Rob and Michele were found with their throats slit by their 28-year-old daughter, Romy Reiner.
Her 32-year-old brother, Nick, was arrested the following night after a source told The Post he had been eyed as a person of interest.
He has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder — for which he is expected to plead not guilty by reason of insanity.
