Australia's Justis Huni (12-0) has accepted the call to take on Englishman Fabio Wardley (18-0-1) for the interim WBA heavyweight world championship next month.

The bout goes down at Portman Road, the home ground of English Premier League club Ipswich, on June 7 (June 8 in Australia).

Wardley, an Ipswich native, was due to take on American Jarrell Miller, but "Big Baby" withdrew from the bout earlier this week, leaving organisers scrambling to find a new opponent.

The bout represents a significant step up in competition and stature from Huni's recent outings - he's coming off three straight second-round knockout victories, all on home soil.

A former standout amateur, Huni won the Australian title on his professional debut to begin a swift rise up the rankings, culminating with victories over the credentialed Andrew Tabiti and Kevin Lerena in his eighth and ninth bouts.

Renowned for his lightning fast hands, "JPH" is ranked in the top 15 with all four of boxing's major sanctioning bodies.

The 30-year-old Wardley has proven himself to be among the best British heavyweights, with wins over contemporaries David Adelaye and Frazer Clarke putting him in position to fight for a form of the world title.

Wardley vs. Huni kicks off a big week for Australian boxing, with Jai Opetaia looking to defend his IBF and The Ring cruiserweight titles against Italy's Claudio Squeo the on the Gold Coast on June 8.

The following weekend, George Kambosos faces Richardson Hitchins in New York as he attempts to become a two-division world champion.
